Green Fingers 2014

Green Fingers 2014 – I’m a vegetable, grow me out of here!

Much to our delight, several schools joined us for our annual gardening promotion week during the spring! I’m a vegetable, grow me out of here! was created to try to encourage pupils to take an interest in the food they eat and its journey to their plates.

Photo 1The tomato and herb foccacia tasters made by the ISS Education team at Cockwood Primary School in Devon went down a treat!

We aimed to introduce them to some new flavours by offering food tasters each day of the week. Every day, we asked our diners to vote on whether they liked it, loved it or disliked it!

Our cook at Bucklebury Primary School in West Berkshire was REALLY pleased with the feedback from the pupils!Photo 2

We had lots of winners who found golden tickets under their plates! Prizes included seed pots, edible hanging basket kits, seed gardens and a top prize of a visit from TV gardener, Chris Collins.

We also worked with Chris to create a step by step video guide to making edible hanging baskets. Why not try making one yourselves? Visit the below to watch it on YouTube!
